ROLLER SOUL

A ROLLER SKATING HORROR THEATER PRODUCTION

Written, Produced and  Directed by Carolyn Hamilton

Roller Soul isn’t just a play - it’s a show within a show. A living showcase where skaters, drag performers, musicians, and other artists step into the spotlight and share their passion in real time. The story weaves throughout the experience, but within it are multiple layers: performance, movement, live music, spectacle, absurdist humor and community.

It’s part immersive theater, part underground roller disco, part haunted fever dream - creating a space where audiences don’t just watch the world of Roller Soul, they become part of it.

ROLLER SOUL, A Roller Play

Synopsis

ROLLER SOUL began as a screenplay before being adapted into a roller-skating horror show—live on skates!

Lily, a lonely succubus, has only one friend in the world: Mrs. Bernadette Weatherly, a washed-up Floridian drag queen and the sole keeper of Lily’s dark secret. Longing for connection, Lily is drawn to San Francisco’s tight-knit skate community, where she becomes fixated on one skater in particular—Skates, a rising star and the best roller skater in the world.

Roller Soul, a new theatrical work by Carolyn Hamilton, follows these star-crossed lovers and the one fatal detail that threatens their affair: as a succubus, Lily’s intimate encounters always end the same way—with euphoric pleasure, the extraction of her lovers’ souls, and their ultimate deaths.

Can this doomed pair find a way to be together despite Lily’s monstrous nature? Will their shared passion for skating save them, or will the suspicious residents of The Golden City, unnerved by a string of mysterious murders, tear apart not only the skate community—but a romance to die for?

Manifesting my screenplay into an A24, Neon or Blumhouse production.

My ultimate goal for Roller Soul is to create a community-driven, live roller-skating horror theater experience. I want to set up shop in different cities, and feature local skaters, drag performers, and musicians.
